The first significant caffeine withdrawal symptoms hit!

Video Summary:

Today I had first caffeine withdrawal headache!

This program won’t be effortless.

Classic throbbing headache, this has happened before when I’ve gone cold turkey.

Cut caffeine by 50% before any withdrawal symptoms hit.

One cup of coffee, or 100 mg of caffeine, seems to be my threshold for when headaches kick in.

My problem with caffeine:  I’m drinking caffeine just to alleviate my withdrawal symptoms, not to make me feel “really good.”

Finished “Buzz,”  second half about caffeine.

Caffeine is more complex molecule than alcohol molecule.  Caffeine is an adenosine inhibitor.

Neurons kick off adenosine as waste product of neurons firing.  Adenosine fits into special receptors, normally setting off reactions that slow the body down

When receptors become blocked by caffeine, the body can’t slow down.  It’s as if the brake pedal in your body is sticky, or a block of wood has been placed under your brake pedal.

Body then kicks off endorphins, dopamine and adrenaline, which wakes you up and makes you feel good.

We’ve been waking up as a human race for millions of years, do we really need this drug to wake up?
