Time for some research.  Got a bunch of books at the library!

Video Summary:

No physical withdrawal symptoms except for strong cravings.

Doing these videos is making me more vested, otherwise I might have given in to temptation.

Still looking forward to the drinks in the morning, feel sort of like a drug addict.

Decide to do some research to educate myself.

Got three Library Books:  Buzz (1996), The Caffeine Advantage (2002) and the World of Caffeine (2001) to educate myself on caffeine.

Want to get both pro- and anti-caffeine books as well as neutral, more scholarly books.

“World of Caffeine” discusses introduction of coffee, tea and chocolate into the world as a whole  and the Western world in particular.

Tea from China, coffee from Arabian peninsula, Cacao bean from the new world.

Read introduction “Caffeine is the world’s most popular drug, easily surpassing nicotine and alcohol.  Caffeine is the only psychoactive substance the has overcome resistance and disapproval around the world to the extent that is freely available almost everywhere…”

Energy drinks are a new phenomenon of the last ten years that is not covered in these books.  I thinks energy drinks are a very significant new development in the caffeine story that may have potentially world altering consequences.

No anti-caffeine books in this crop of books.  I don’t want to discount the possibility that caffeine may actually be good for me, but want to get both sides of the story.
