Does caffeine cause anxiety or make it worse?
Book Report:  Tea vs. Coffee and their cultural impacts.  The rise of Coca-Cola.

Video Summary:

Still no withdrawal symptoms.

Drinking Koolaid to stop cravings. Don’t want to drink a lot of sugary drinks though.  The energy shots I am using for this program are sugar free.

Lost a few pounds so far on program, probably because of less sugar from energy drinks.

First reason to stop caffeine: anxiety.  Second reason is to get a good nights sleep.  My sleep is still not perfect and somewhat fitful. I’ve noticed this in the past when I’ve tried to go cold turkey.  I think my brain is just trying to adjust to the new reality, and the new chemical environment with less caffeine.

“World of Caffeine:”  Tea vs. Coffee in culture. Tea more genteel, Coffee more rough and tumble.  Tea culture and ceremonies in Japan and England.  America and caffeine:  Coffee won out over tea because of Boston Tea Party and rebellion against British taxes. Development of Coca-Cola in late 1800s in America.  Changed the story because caffeine would now be delivered to children rather than just adults. Lot of controversy with Coca-Cola at the beginning.

Very little mention of energy drinks in this book that was written in 2001.  Energy drinks have exploded onto the scene and changed the world of caffeine consumption since 2001.
