I discuss the dangers of fat in the diet as discussed in Moss’s book. Continue to lose weight gradually.

Video Summary:

The drink now has 7 tsp or 28 grams of sugar.  Still tastes good; I could almost drink it straight now, where the early drinks were so sweet that each sip was like a piece of candy.  Still no problems with the program.  I went to the gym today and have not eaten yet, so this video may not be the best.

I read the second section of “Salt, Sugar, Fat”.  Last time I covered the Sugar section , this time I’ll cover the Fat section.  The main takeaways I got were primarily:  Don’t each cheese or red meat!  I also never realized that cooking oil is basically liquid fat.  So a lot of things like potato chips or Fritos are cooked in this oil and thus are providing a lot of fat.

They also talk about how sugar and salt have places on the tongue that are stimulated, whereas fat has something called “mouth feel” that make it alluring.

They talk about how in the 1960s there was a big public service program about limiting saturated fats in milk because it clogged the arteries and was a potential danger for heart disease.  This caused people to buy 1% or 2% milk, which is what I actually buy.  But a lot of that fat just gets shipped out and converted into cheese.  Many people, myself included, more than makeup for the low fat milk by eating a lot of cheese which has a lot of the bad, saturated fat.  The book also talks about limiting consumption of red meat and processed meat because of their fat content.

Also they discuss the conflicted nature of a lot of the governmental agencies like the Dept. of Agriculture and the FDA.  The food conglomerates hold sway over then because they provide a lot of the funding.  A lot of the policies of these agencies aren’t so much to product the consumer as to protect the conglomerates.

I just got back from the gym which is probably not the best time to do videos because all my blood is being used by my body for working out and not enough is flowing to my brain 🙂

Also my weight is down to 193.5 so I think I’ve lost about 5 pounds, and I definitely feel like I’m on the weight loss path.  Also I think I’m craving sugar a bit more as I dip below the AHA recommended 9 tsp of sugar a day.  But there have been no physical withdrawal symptoms at all compared to my caffeine withdrawal system.
